7/12/2026 6 Comments LOT 44 SECRET SPACES by Judy Watson Description This small painting looks back to my teenage outings on horseback. During those special years between dependence and independence, solitary explorations and private discoveries were felt deeply. Quiet moments gazing at openings between the trees, the fall of light on speckled foliage and the unfolding rooms within nature have carried all the way through to my writing and art today. Acrylic on fibreboard W 25cm x H 20cm Illustrator Bio JUDY WATSON is a Melbourne author, illustrator and mixed-media artist. She is the Illustrator Coordinator for The Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators (Victoria). Her most recent books are ‘The Boy and the Dog Tree’ by Fiona Wood (2026) ‘Jo and the NO’ by Kyle Mewburn (2025) and ‘Hazel’s Treehouse’ by Zanni Louise (2024). Other picture-books include ‘Goodnight Mice!’ by Frances Watts which won the Prime Minister's Literary Award for Children’s Fiction in 2012; ‘When You’re Older’ by Sofie Laguna which won a Notable in the 2023 CBCA Book of the Year awards; ‘Thunderstorm Dancing’ by Katrina Germein which won a Notable in the 2016 CBCA Awards and was honoured in the Illustrator Australia Awards, ‘Leonard Doesn’t Dance’ by Frances Watts which was selected by the International Youth Library for the White Ravens 2020 Catalogue and ‘Searching for Cicadas’ by Lesley Gibbes, shortlisted for the Eve Pownall Award for information books in the 2020 CBCA awards and winner of a Royal Zoological Society of NSW Whitley Award. Judy is married with two grown up children, a three-legged dog, several chickens and various foster cats. Her studio overlooks the Sweetwater Creek. Illustrator Bio Max Hamilton is a CBCA and Whitley award-winning illustrator, an author, a graphic designer and most enthusiastically a maker of children’s books. She enjoys noticing the little details in things and loves to get lost in the world of illustration and stories. Max lives with her family and their cuddly dog in Sydney, Australia.
7/5/2026 2 Comments LOT 42 My feet may miss the beat by Ruth-Mary Smith Description The print has a quote ‘ my feet may miss the beat but my heart knows the music’ the lettering has been made from collage paper. I have watercoloured three little musicians on the bottom and the little pup on the left is having difficulty keeping to the beat but is having an amazing time! Illustrator Bio Ruth-Mary has always loved illustration for children—there’s something magical about capturing the wonder of little ones through art. From early in her marriage, she dreamed of raising a family while growing her creative skills, imagining a life filled with both colour and cuddles.
But her story took a different path. Her journey to motherhood was long and winding, shaped by infertility, but then the absolute joy of motherhood from international adoption, foster care, and eventually, a biological child. Her family was created in the way it was always meant to be, and she wouldn’t change a single piece of it. That journey grew in her a deep appreciation for the unique sparkle every child brings into the world. Throughout it all, she found myself returning to drawing and painting, sketchbook in hand, dreaming of picture books and playful patterns. Watercolour classes, creative exploration, and messy practice slowly shaped a whimsical, heartfelt style all her own. Combining her love for children with her love of illustration, she now illustrates children’s books and creates sweet, nostalgic prints and patterns designed to bring warmth and wonder to your family. 7/5/2026 5 Comments LOT 41 HAPPY PUP by Brent Wilson Description Gouache on paper Illustrator Bio Brent Wilson is a Brisbane-based author/illustrator whose work appears in the pages of major national publications, children's books and a variety of other commercial projects.
Brent is co-author and illustrator of the graphic novel series Frog, Log and Dave. Written with Trent Jamieson and out through Penguin Random House. Brent's first children's book was the acclaimed Koalas Like To ... written by Shae Millward and published by the State Library QLD as part of a series of 12 books created especially for children aged 0–5 for their First 5 Forever initiative. Koalas Like To ... was a finalist in the 2021 ABDA Awards for Best Designed Children's Illustrated Book. His editorial work has been seen in QANTAS Magazine, GQ, The Telegraph, Australian Women's Weekly, Jetstar Magazine and the AFR's BOSS Magazine.
