This original watercolour painting of a Gouldian Finch was illustrated by Sami Bayly in 2026 and took approximately 6 hours to paint. It showcases the stunning vibrant colours of the iconic Australian bird and is encased in a vintage wooden frame and matboard. 

Illustrator Bio

Sami is an international award winning author and illustrator who is based in Newcastle, Australia. She loves all things weird and wonderful and enjoys painting realistic flora and fauna with watercolours. Her favourite topics tend to be the ones most people like to avoid... such as 'ugly' animals, parasites, poo stories and more. But she is not afraid to paint the ‘prettier’ things in life every now and then. She has published 7 books over the last 7 years, which include titles such as, “The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Ugly Animals” , “The Illustrated Encyclopaedia of Fast and Slow Animals”  and “How We Came To Be: Surprising Sea Creatures”.
